Week 18: Zain Hassan
Zain Hasan: Presentation 2: Blog C:
The last part of the presentation was to create the prototype and the presentation itself.
My contribution:
Aside from contributing to the design of the prototype, I felt it was important to keep the navigation simple. Taking a page from the 3 layer rule employed by companies like Sony and Apple, I proposed we keep the number of pages we have to navigate to a minimum of 3. This would allow easy navigation without causing the user to become tired or irritated at the length of time required to get to a simple function. Aside from this, I made some presentation slides as well as helped with the paper creation of the prototype.
Group Discussion:
The group work for the final leg of the presentation project was evenly spaced, though the clever sliding quick launch buttons were Ehav and Arundhati’s idea. I concentrated on the importance of the outer tabs as they would be integral to demo, as well as some navigation pages.
Lessons Learned:
The final part of the presentation proved that demos can be quite tiring. I still do not quite understand why we have to make paper prototypes when showing the actual steps of navigation can be more easily shown on power-point. This however, is simply my opinion and does not reflect that of the group. Still, I can see how having a prototype of such fidelity can do wonders for illustrating a point and any navigation problems that can occur.
