Week 18 – Ihab Mohamed – Prototype 1 – Presentation
So we plugged it in!
Group Work:
Good work was done on the prototype, that left us with not much to do this week. The paper prototype did have a few loose ends that was worked on such as the scrolling bar at the bottom, screens of new pages, organization of it all to reduce the amount of papers needed to be swapped on demo.
The presentation was created by created by a few members of the group, while the others had worked on their individual roles.
The presentation covered a brief introduction, objectives of what was to be achieved, brief discussion on prototypes in general, designing process we took, a demo of our prototype, and a discussion of what is to be done next with a conclusion.
Individual input:
I had assisted in the presentation creation and the allotting tasks to the people. This was done with the assistance of Arundhati so that we have a good spread of people in the presentation.
I had rechecked everything on the paper prototype and organized how it was going to work.
As for the presentation, I took the role of discussing shortly how the design was perceived, we had only 3 prototype designs at hand, so we had used those 3 prototypes in the presentation to give a little look into how we developed the final design. I then had moved on to the demo. Arundhati had brought up the scenarios, and I had applied those scenarios (i.e. the problems the scenarios faced) to the paper prototype so the unfortunate incidents in the scenarios need not happen.
I had then after the demo, passed the presentation back to the powerpoint slides where Zain had took on the “What’s Next?”
Lesson Learnt:
Based on our presentation, work we have done on it, the presentations of others and also with the way the tutor had inspected and questioned several aspects. I have learnt exactly what are the approaches required in the prototype from a different level.
I learnt that our approach was good, but with slight flaws that would eventually be addressed after evaluation. nothing is without flaw.
The prototype demoed was the first prototype we have created, but we have a bigger list of features we wish to add. We did not extend the prototype as we wanted to cover the design aspects to the maximum and, we could apply all our features to the design we have created or the design we derive after evaluation.
